Kinetico was founded in 1970 by two engineers who set out to design a superior water softener. Their innovation led to the creation of the world’s first non-electric, fully automatic, twin-tank water softener, powered entirely by the movement of water.
With over 50 years of experience in the water treatment industry, Kinetico continues to be recognised for its high-quality, reliable, and forward-thinking solutions. The company’s non-electric approach removes the need for timers or computers, reducing the risk of mechanical breakdowns and ensuring long-lasting performance.
All Kinetico water treatment systems are engineered for efficiency, durability, and environmental friendliness. Their non-electric Premier Compact Water Softener, for example, is designed to monitor water usage and process only what is needed, minimising waste while saving money. Many customers enjoy their Kinetico water softening system for well over a decade, benefiting from consistent, high-quality soft water.
Kinetico is a world-leading manufacturer of domestic and commercial water treatment products, trusted by customers ranging from Buckingham Palace and the Savoy to Thames Water and the Royal Mint. The company’s core principles of innovation, reliability, and forward-thinking engineering remain central today, even as part of Axel Johnson Inc.
Kinetico softeners are suitable for homes of varying sizes, from small households to larger properties with multiple bathrooms. Their patented twin-tank design ensures a continuous supply of softened water, giving homeowners peace of mind while protecting pipes, appliances, and surfaces from limescale.
The Kinetico Premier Series Water Softener, including the Premier Compact and Premier Plus models, has earned a reputation for high performance, durability, and low running costs.
Kinetico water softeners remove hardness minerals such as calcium and magnesium from water, helping to prevent limescale build-up in pipes, boilers, and household appliances. Some models also feature filtration to reduce chlorine, sediment, and other impurities.
For those wondering how a Kinetico water softener works, the system uses twin resin tanks to remove hardness minerals continuously. When one tank reaches capacity, the other takes over, ensuring a constant supply of softened water.
Regeneration occurs automatically, using a controlled amount of salt and water, making the system highly efficient while maintaining excellent water quality. Softened water improves appliance longevity, reduces energy usage, enhances cleaning, and leaves skin and hair feeling smoother.
Kinetico water softeners are compact yet powerful, designed to suit households of various sizes while remaining economical to run. Systems are non-electric, environmentally friendly, and built to last, with a typical lifespan of around 15 years. All models come with a 10-year parts warranty and a 2-year labour warranty.
The Kinetico Premier Compact is suitable for families of up to five people, with a maximum softening capacity of 450 litres per tank (900 litres total) at 300 PPM. Each tank contains 4 litres of resin, and salt storage accommodates two 4kg blocks.
The system has a peak flow rate of 33 litres per minute, uses 20.5 litres of water per regeneration, and consumes 350 grams of salt per cycle. Monthly running costs are approximately one 4kg block per person, or six packs of 2x4kg block salt per person annually.
The Kinetico Premier Plus is designed for larger households of up to 10 people and four or more bathrooms. It has a maximum softening capacity of 1,068 litres per tank (2,136 litres total) and can use either tablet or block salt. Each tank contains sufficient resin to ensure peak flow rates of 45 litres per minute, with 22 litres of water used per regeneration over 19 minutes. Running costs are typically 2.5 bags of 25kg tablet salt per person per year.
Kinetico systems are straightforward to maintain, with Kinetico water softener maintenance recommended periodically and Kinetico water softener repair available using genuine parts if needed. They are supplied with the highest-quality Kinetico water softener block salt and filters, ensuring optimal performance and long-term reliability.
